Major Tasks at University of Mosul:
During the period of working at Mosul University, additional to
academic experience of lecturing and doing research , the following main two tasks
gave an invaluable experience:
Electrical
Engineering Department Development: As
head of department during the period of 1972-1977, direct supervision of
establishment of a number of laboratories for
both teaching and research purposes
were done. A vast experience was gained in establishing new laboratories.
Specifically Machines Laboratory, Power Laboratory, etc..
Establishing
Computer Center: As a
Manager of Mosul University Computer Center during the period 1973-1981, a vast
experience was gained. A computer center was established from scratch. It was
facilitated with a proper hardware to
serve the needs of University of Mosul as a whole. Hardware, Software ,
Personnel and Buildings were all
looked after and developed. Special attention was given training and personnel
development. Foundation for computerized systems at the University was
established.
Industrial Work Experience:
Chief Engineer, Northern Cement Enterprise, Mosul, Iraq 1981-1991
Consultant , Mosul, Iraq, 1987-1992

Major Tasks in Industry
With the academic background and the experience mentioned above, the
work at industry during the period of 1981-1992 gave a rare opportunity for a
academician to apply his experience into industrial enterprises. A vast industrial experience was gained and a
wide range of tasks were tackled in industry mainly in the following fields :
Electrical Engineering Consultant : A wide range of engineering
problems in the fields of maintenance, repair, modifications, expansion , and
commissioning in factories of
Cement , Building Materials, Textile, Sugar, and Wood.
Automation and Control of Industrial Plants:
A vast experience was gained in automation and Control of Cement ,
Textile and Wood Factories. Most modern computer
controlled cement factories by then were commissioned and operated in
Iraq during the period of 1981-1990. Involvement with such plants gave a vast
experience in automation and control.
Computerization of Industrial Plants:
Application of various computerized management systems e.g. stock
control, production management, personnel management, industrial cost analysis,
industrial accountancy, and pay roll were applied to the industrial enterprises
during 1981- 1991. A good experience was gained in such implementation and
tackling the difficulties phased in such tasks in developing countries.
Computer Center Management:
Various tasks of computer center management were implemented including hardware management, software management, personnel management and short and long term planning. During the period of 1981-1992, few hardware upgrading of computer systems were done.
Returning
back to academic life after gaining an extensive industrial experience, gave a
rare opportunity to give the lecturing a deep
applied dimension.
Since
September 1992, additional to teaching , laboratories supervision and research
activities at Jordan University, many other tasks have been performed. Some of
these are:
*
Joining in Programs and Curricula development committees.
*
Joining in Various academic committees.
*
Giving courses in continuous education programs.
*
Sharing in organizing committees of conferences and workshops
*
Sharing in committees of Standardization for Jordan Chamber of Standards.
